Over thirty years of warm hospitality and good cooking have made this restaurant a safe haven for food-lovers.
The food served is typical Tuscan fare: soups, stews and game meat are on offer in the winter months, whereas the summer menu is full of vegetable dishes, herbs and fresh fish. The juicy and generous Florentine steak is a must, as well as the perfectly cooked fillet steak and excellent ribollita vegetable stew – the recipe for which has been handed down three generations.
The menu changes every two months and depends on the seasonal produce available. Local produce and niche producers are given plenty of space. Fresh fish is bought daily, again depending on what is available.
The menu is 100% local and there’s a tasting menu made up of traditional Tuscan dishes. As well as traditional recipes, we also serve our own creative dishes which are the result of our search for interesting flavour combinations and fresh seasonal ingredients. The wine list offers mostly regional wines, including some biodynamic and organic labels. The menu also always features some vegetarian dishes and meals for those who are gluten-intolerant.
Il Paiolo is also featured in the “La via artusiana” guide produced by Casa Artusi and Leonardo Romanelli. The restaurant has also successfully taken part in the Expo Rurale event with a recipe by Chef Alessandro De Luca, who has worked with Il Paiolo for several years.
