Spotlight on the most iconic products of the Region of Tuscany: the event at Cinema La Compagnia on Wednesday April 16

Green gold gets its green carpet in Tuscany: on Wednesday April 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence, the 2025 Regional Selection of Tuscan PDO and PGI Extra Virgin Olive Oils is back.

The event will open with a theatrical reading featuring actors Barbara Enrichi, Sergio Forconi and Bruno Santini. This will be followed by welcome speeches from the President of the Region of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani; the Vice President and Councillor for Agri-food, Stefania Saccardi; the Secretary General of the Florence Chamber of Commerce, Giuseppe Salvini; and the Director of Fondazione Sistema Toscana, Francesco Palumbo.

Tiziana Sarnari, Head of the Geographical Indications Office at ISMEA, will present updated data and trends in the sector, while Gennaro Giliberti, agronomy officer of the Region of Tuscany’s Agri-food Department, will explain “The Regions’ Proposal for the National Olive Plan.”

Later in the morning, several guests will speak, sharing best practices linked to Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. These include popular TV cook Luisanna Messari, chefs Gian Piero Fava and Andrea Perini, pizza maker Tommaso Vatti, the organiser of “Enolia” Gabriele Ghirlanda, and the founder of the SuprEvo Olive Oil Museum, Lauro Morettini.

Next will be the awards ceremony for the 48 labels selected for the 2025 catalogue and the 13 winning oils. Joining Vice President Saccardi on stage will be the presidents of Tuscany’s PDO and PGI Olive Oil Consortiums. There will also be special mentions for the “Best “Monocultivar Selection”, “Organic Selection”, and “Packaging Selection”, as well as the prestigious title of “Best Oil” for each PDO and PGI with at least three oils selected.

The event will be hosted by Simona Bellocci, journalist and editor-in-chief of intoscana.it

At the end of the morning, there will be a tasting of Fettunta made with PDO Tuscan Bread and PDO and PGI Oils from the 2025 Selection.

The event will be broadcast live on the social media pages of the Region of Tuscany, the Florence Chamber of Commerce, BuyFood, and InToscana.it
