It’s called <\/span>#RET<\/b>, and it stands for <\/span>Storie di Resilienza Enogastronomica Toscana<\/b> (Tales of Tuscan Enogastronomic Resilience). This is a <\/span>new communication initiative from the Tuscan Region<\/b>, who are launching it on the anniversary of the <\/span>Resistance<\/b>: five episodes (each with five guests) broadcast online every Thursday at 5pm. The aim is to inform the public of the new trade practices that the <\/span>Tuscan food and wine consortia<\/b> are planning, with the current situation having been rendered so delicate by the Coronavirus. In Tuscany the <\/span>agricultural sector<\/span><\/a> has not ground to a halt; rather, ever since the start of the crisis it has taken it upon itself to respond to the growing demand for goods, producing local food of the highest quality and value: ambassadors for the land they come from.<\/span><\/p>\n

The online talk show is the work of <\/span>Tinto (Nicola Prudente)<\/b>, writer and presenter of <\/span>Decanter<\/i><\/b> on Rai Radio 2<\/b>, and of the <\/span>Fondazione Sistema Toscana <\/b>and <\/span>Flod<\/b>, who manage the technical side of things.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once the final episode is broadcast, <\/span>25<\/b> stories of resilience<\/b> will have been presented: 25 windows onto Tuscany’s culinary quality, and how it has proven able to resist the modern enemy, Covid-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first of five episodes – all of which the public can interact with by asking questions in real time – is scheduled for Thursday April 30, 5-6pm; the final episode airs on Thursday May 28. Taking part in the first #RET episode are Fabrizio Filippi from the <\/span>Consorzio di Tutela dell’Olio Toscana IGP<\/b>, Sergio Bucci from the <\/span>Consorzio di Tutela del Vino Morellino di Scansano DOCG<\/b>, Giovanni Belli from <\/span>Assocantuccini<\/b>, Fabrizio Pratesi from the <\/span>Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini di Carmignano<\/b>, and Alessandro Iacomini from <\/span>the Consorzio di Tutela della Finocchiona IGP<\/b>. All will be plied with questions from Tinto.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“<\/span>The current situation<\/span><\/i>” said <\/span>Marco Remaschi<\/b>, regional assessor for agriculture, “<\/span>is forcing all of us to stay at home, halting sociability and reducing dialogue. <\/span><\/i>With this project, we want to reignite the conversation, bringing triumphant stories of Tuscan food production into people’s homes: stories of place, perseverance and inspiration<\/i><\/b>. It will be a way to bring us all closer together through uplifting accounts of personal experiences, which will give us the confidence to look ahead with more belief<\/span><\/i>.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
